Indole-acetic acid (IAA) is a broad-spectrum plant growth regulator with auxin activity.
Regulates electron and proton channels in cell membranes
It is widely use in many fields like the following:
Used as plant growth stimulating hormone and analytical reagent.
3- indole acetic acid and 3- indole acetaldehyde, 3- indole acetonitrile, ascorbic acid and other auxin substances naturally exist in nature, 3- indole acetic acid biosynthesis precursor in plants is tryptophan.
The basic function of auxin is to regulate the growth of plants. It not only promotes growth, but also inhibits growth and organogenesis.
In plant cells, auxin exists not only in a free state, but also in bound auxin which is firmly bound to biomolymers and other substances, such as indole acetyl asparagine, indole alpentose acetate and indole acetyl glucose.
This may be a way of storing auxin in the cell, as well as a way of detoxifying the toxic effects of excess auxin.
